Old Cyrillic Alphabet with Pronunciation (Old Slavic)

Old Cyrillic Alphabet with Pronunciation (Old Slavic)

Hello everyone. This is an introduction to Old Cyrillic alphabet. As in previous video I am going to cover complete
Cyrillic alphabet first by telling you the name of every character, then I will repeat
you it’s pronunciation twice, so you can hear it better and of course I will tell you
the numeric value of that character, because Hindu numerals were still not used at that
time. So, let’s start. As in my Glagolitic video This is the letter Yat, which is kinda special. It’s pronunciation varied between different
Slavic dialects, as also on it’s position in the word. If it was the first letter it was pronounced
as Ya, if it was in the middle it was pronounced as Ye, or Iye and finally if it was the last
letter it was pronounced as I. However, at the earliest times this letter
had one single pronunciation at it was something between E and I. So it might have sounded something like this:
Yat. This was a complete list of all old Cyrillic
letters used to write Old Slavic. In the next video, we will examine the Serbian pre-reform orthography. Stay tuned for more and have a great day.

  2. That's not Old Slavic language! That's Old BULGARIAN language and always will be but Russians and others still call it Slavic because they hate Bulgaria and can't accept that Bulgaria gave them the alphabet!

Bulgaria gave the Cyrillic alphabet to present day:
    🇧🇬 Bulgaria
    🇲🇰 Macedonia
    🇷🇸 Serbia
    🇲🇪 Montenegro
    🇧🇾 Belarus
    🇺🇦 Ukraine
    🇷🇺 Russia

Then Russia continued the spread of the alphabet to present day:
    🇷🇺 Russia
    🇰🇿 Kazakhstan
    🇺🇿 Uzbekistan
    🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan
    🇹🇲 Turkmenistan
    🇹🇯 Tajikistan
    🇲🇳 Mongolia

This makes more than 200 million people worldwide writing on the Cyrillic alphabet and even though Russia makes 3/4 of these people, the alphabet was made and given to them by the small country of Bulgaria! 🇧🇬

24st of May is the day of the BULGARIAN writing and culture and the day of Cyril and Methodius who gave the inspiration to Kliment Ohridski to create the alphabet of the Slavs in Ohrid, Bulgaria (present day Macedonia)!!! 🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬

  3. The original Cyrillic alphabet was the Greek alphabet (all the characters including those for numbers, and including the ou digraph) with an addition of eleven new letters with unknown origin to represent sounds specific to Slavic.

The 11 new letters are these: БSЖЦЧШЪЬѢѪѦ

In those times, 9th and 10tth centuries, no one could claim he created a new alphabet. It was obvious that it was the Greek alphabet with some addition. Who created that addition – we do not know now and we will never know. Most probably, it was done in some capital city, Pliska, Preslav, or Constantinople.

The Glagolitic script and the Cyrillic script were initially unrelated. Most probably, St. Clement and St. Naum stayed loyal to the Glagolitic tradition of their teachers St. Cyril and St. Methodius.

  4. Hmm…it's interesting to see that the first Cyrillic alphabet has so little in common to the ones used in modern Slavic languages (i.e. in my native language, Russian). Very interesting indeed. Anyway, thanks for the video! 🙂

  5. Read Slovenske Arijske Vede and you will see what Perun and slovenski jezik-slovenščina is!

  6. Slavyansk, could you please explain a little bit? In the video, you prounounce the back Yer as [ɨ] – close central unrounded vowel, as Y in russian „ty” = you, and the front Yer as a schwa (close „u” to english „burn”, 4 example). However, i was unde the the impression that these sounds were short U and short I (with the front Yer somewhat similar to the [j] glide as in english „You” and the back Yer similar to the [w] glide, as in english „Win”). At least this what I understand from the tables on wiki (): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proto-Slavic#Phonology. T. Ivanova in her Staroslavjanskij Jazyk textbook writes that the front Yer is mid front ultra short vowel (like a very short „e”) and the back Yer is a mid back ultra short vowel (like a very short o), s this is why we have reductions like „pesOk” = sand and dEnj= day, for example. Could you shed some light?
P.S.: I know glides are not vowels per se (and do not function independently as it may be the case of slavonic Yers), I just could not think of a better analogy.

  7. Well it's actually bulgarian but everybody hates Bulgaria (especially Serbia) because they've started several wars against us but never won a single one of them (eventhough they had more men and guns.)
ps: We don't hate you bros. In my town Vidin there is a memorial for YOUR soldiers who died in these pointless wars. Never ever should orthodox brothers fight against each other.

  8. "Bulgaria is the biggest Demon to Macedonia"-Krste Petkov Misirkov 1903 year. The true bulgarians are Turk-Tatars, today bulgarians of bulgaria are not bulgarians but "bulgarians", wannabe bulgarians or bulgarians on batteries. Modern Frankesteins, pre-op shemales. They are bipolar nation, Turk-Tatar by origin but speak with Macedonian alphabet. They are artificialy invented by Germany with a German king in 19 th century. Theres nothing bulgarian in their "history"exept the name they still from the real Bulgarians who lives in Uzbekistan, Tatarstan, Chuvashija and the Turks in bulgaria from Dobrudza and Deliorman and have the same flag like Tatarstan, and praise "same culture and origin"with Tatarstan and Mongolia. Their forefathers are Mongols, like Asparuh. They build monuments to Mongols, like founders of Bulgaria. Macedonians are not Mongols im sorry. They carry the name of their opresors, the bulgarians, which is the only example in the world(its like from 2000 years from now Jews to praise Hitler and to build monuments of him and say-we are the "true Germans") who came from Mongolia in 9th century and were Ezicnici and spoked Turk language. Macedonians exist 2000 years before this tribe came to balkan and took the language and Christianity from Macedonians. So Macedonia killed 100% everything Bulgarian they have, exept the name, back in 9 th century. Macedonia and macedonians are 39 times in the Bible. No one mentioned "bulgarians"there. Bulgaria ocupied a part of Macedonia in 1913, Pirin macedonia and acted in partition of Macedonia. Bulgaria ocupied Macedonia in WW2 and raped killed tortured Macedonians and killed 7.200 Jews from Macedonia. They are the DEVILS. 3 million Macedonians live in "bulgaria". 3 million bulgarians left bulgaria, in 20 years there will be no bulgaria. They are death nation. Bulgar means-stupid, peasent like creature, uneducated barbarian, someone with no manners. And they are exactly like the name.

  15. The Macedonian glagolica is different from other glagolica, its called Obla(round one), and its specific, cose of the pronounce and the letters only we have, the first writings in glagolica are from macedonia, and most in number, like Asemanovo evangelie, etc, and its in use in macedonia from 9th till 14th century. The one in use in croatia for example, is in use till 19th century, and its different. Theres not 1 writing in glagolica from bulgaria, thats why they want to prove that bad that we are bulgars, see? They have only 2 books with glagolica which they STOLE from macedonia in 19 century, and 20th, they keep them in st. Ivan Rilski monastery in bulgaria. So the glagolica has letters they dont have, and all letters are with macedonian pronounce, L is Ljudie, bulgars say Hora, Gj is Gjerv, S is Sjalo or Celo, etc, and they dont have 1 monument book etc with glagolic, so how the glagolic is bulgarian? Cose they say so? How then the inventors of glagolic, st. Cyril and Method are bulgars? And the most important, the glagolic alphabet was "invented"firstly for one reason only-to translate the Bible, and in that very time bulgars are still not christians! So how in the earth that alphabet is bulgarian??? Cose their propaganda says so? Its a lame propaganda for them to cover up the occupation of Macedonia and taking one part of it in 1913, Pirin, and occupation of Macedonia in 1941 by Nazi Bulgaria and killing of 30.000 Macedonians and 7144 macedonian Jews. Nothing else.
